This is a book on the place and the role of women in the Church and the society. The author, whose profession is medical care, has engaged herself in theological studies at the Holy Trinity College of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church. Her purpose was to have a better theological preparation in view of her book of 312 pages published in 2013. The first chapter explains the rationale for the title of the book which might seem provocative by drawing close women and donkeys. The author underlines that both of them have a special place in the Bible. The second chapter is focused on the glory of women, by presenting great female figures in the Sacred Scriptures. The third chapter deals with the positive roles of donkeys in the Bible. Chapter four is a critique of male chauvinism found in oral literature, reflected also among men of the church. Chapter five underlines the need of a change with regard to how one perceives the place and the role of women in the Church. It calls also for changes of certain unjustified practices done in the name of religion. The book which affirms that religion should not be a pretext to oppress women is recently translated into English.
